Getting real on the blog today...because I know I can't be the only one who has ever gone through a rut. Some might call it burn out, others might say you're going through a tough time. Either way, it's totally normal (and actually healthy!) to go through a rut.
In a Funk
I recently went through a rut myself. I lost vision for my blog and was getting overwhelmed by managing working full-time and my side hustle. I lost confidence in myself to create great content and was worried I was letting y'all down! I took my rut as God's sign to slow down. I began to ask myself a lot of questions, like "Where am I at in my career?", "Why isn't my blog growing the way I want it to?", "What do I need to do to get my content at its prime?". Then, it dawned on me that all of the questions and worries I had didn't concern how I was doing. Instead they were about how other people saw me.
Luckily, my rut came about a week and a half before my small vacation. I decided to use this set vacation time to not fret. If I didn't post on a given day, that was okay. My happiness became my priority. Remember when I said that ruts are actually healthy? Here's why...
Why It's Healthy
I had hit a wall in my creative mind, and my initial reaction was stress and anxiety. Acknowledging my rut and accepting my idealess mindset, allowed me to hit the reset button and remember why I started my blog in the first place. I wasn't going through the stress of managing a blog to impress others, I blog because it is a passion of mine.
Since then, I've regained a whirlwind of ideas for my blog and came back to my rooted center. I feel rejuvenated and happy that I gave my mind, body, and soul a break.
